Why Long Beach Vegan?

Seven years back, our founder German R. started noticing the increasing number of vegan restaurants in Long Beach. As German was vegan for more than ten years by then, he wanted to document and share all these new places with the vegan community in his city. In early 2016, German initiated the LBVegan Instagram account and explored as many local vegan spots as he could, capturing each visit with photos. Simultaneously, he started organizing his local events featuring vegan pop-ups at local venues, and it evolved to massive venues like The Petroleum Club, as part of The Plant Base collective. The vegan landscape in our city has grown tremendously, leading to the formation of this website. Our website aims to document this growth by cataloging the vast number of vegan and vegan-friendly eateries around town and highlighting the people who work and create these establishments. LBVegan’s mission is to spread awareness about a sustainable lifestyle and to be inclusive and open-minded to other people’s ideas and beliefs. LBVegan is not just for vegans, but everyone who wants to make a difference- even if it’s just through Meatless Monday or Taco Tuesday. Because every little bit helps in the end.
